Mission Statement
Background
The European Research group
in Elderly Care (EURECARE) originated from international research
co-operation around the Care Dependency Scale development. EURECARE
was established in 1997 as a collaboration between the
multidisciplinary health care researchers and practitioners of several
European universities and health care institutions. The mission
statement of EURECARE is a further step towards playing an important
role in the European arena for research in the elderly care.
Aim
Through research, EURECARE
works towards developing and advancing healthcare and health-promoting
activities in the elderly. The basic scientific activities of EURECARE
are completing research projects, research supervision, research
utilisation in practice and professional instruction. For the
functioning of EURECARE, a dynamic interaction between research and
health care practice is vital. As research in the elderly cuts across
professions, the EURECARE members are derived from several
disciplines. EURECARE’s research is concerned with issues of patient
care, with an emphasis on measuring and evaluating dependency with the
aim of promoting independence, autonomy and quality of life in old age.
Objectives
EURECARE will offer an
international and interdisciplinary network with colleagues across
Europe for continuing development in elderly care and professional
skills. The objectives of EURECARE are:
